Regionals Game 1 Victory for Hubbard and Penn State
|
The Penn State Pride started the Regionals in style today, downing the visiting Houston Shastas at Penn State Grounds by a score of 6-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Pride right-hander Lonnie Hubbard threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball.
In the bottom of the fifth, Penn State designated hitter Marc Small had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Small stroked a 2-run single to left. It made the score 3-1, Penn State. For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Small told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Penn State Grounds in State College.
