Road Win Lifts Penn State to 3-2 Lead in R1
|
The Penn State Pride moved to within one game of the Super Regionals today, downing the Houston Shastas on the road at Shastas Ballpark by a score of 2-1. Pride right-hander Lonnie Hubbard had a strong outing. He threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Pride a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Regionals.
Arnold Picot, the 21-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Picot contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Penn State up, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said Houston manager Yosuke Nakagawa. "But we'll learn from it."
The next game is set to be played for Saturday, May 12th , 2040 at Penn State Grounds in State College.
