In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The El Ray Vampiros faced a tough opponent in Tlalnepantla de Baz pitcher Ramón Días, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Progresivos Ballpark by a final score of 5-3. Días went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. António Lima earned the save for El Ray, his 2nd of the year.
El Ray used a clutch hit from Ángel Villanueva to snatch the win. The center fielder belted a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Vampiros ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Villanueva said.
The Vampiros, now 2-0, have stormed out of the gates.
