Beantown Wins Again, 3-1
|
Their bats were silent and Beantown had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Browns struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 22-year-old starter Bradley Cline. The right-hander quieted the Clifton Dons at Clifton Stadium to help Beantown take the 3-1 decision and seize a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional.
The famously hardworking Cline handled the Dons all day, notching 5 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 2 hits. Cline, the 9th overall pick in the 2035 draft, goes to 1-0 on the year with 5 strikeouts.
"We're not going to sweep 'em," Cline said in response to a question after the game. "Clifton is too good not to take a game somewhere."
The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 16th , 2039 at Beantown Ballpark in Randolph.
