Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Browns, 6-2
|
Beantown Browns second baseman Sadaharu Okamura was the difference-maker at Beantown Ballpark today, as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game 5 of the Divisional. The Browns took the 6-2 win over the Clifton Dons to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder John Slater came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Clifton pitcher Greg Smith, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Beantown on top, 3-2.
"Huge," Okamura said. "Game 5 is huge."
Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday at Beantown Ballpark in Randolph.
