Virus Clip Rapidos Blancos 2-1 in R2 Contest
|
The El Cajon Virus and the San Luis Rio Colorado Rapidos Blancos will take the Divisional to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Virus beat the Rapidos Blancos 2-1 at Ballpark of El Cajon to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. El Cajon right-hander Mark Myers had a big role in the win. He threw 6.1 innings allowing 1 runs.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Ricardo Costello came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing San Luis Rio Colorado pitcher Yorikane Kato, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting El Cajon on top, 2-1.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Costello, "one at-bat at a time."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of El Cajon in El Cajon.
