Powell Blasts Missionaries, Dons Take Game 5, 7-5
The Clifton Dons have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Provo Missionaries, winning 7-5 at Clifton Stadium today. Dons designated hitter Gary Powell hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. The win cuts the deficit facing the Dons to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Ambassador's Cup.

Clifton grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and a runner on 1st, Miguel Rodríguez delivered a 2-run home run, to make it 4-2 in favor of the Dons.

"Ever since we qualified for the playoffs, the guys have been razzing me about how I'm going to embarrass myself out there," the rookie Powell said with a smile. "I'm glad to prove them wrong, at least for a day."

Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Field of the Missionaries in Provo.
