Aruba Breaks Through for First Win in Divisional; Now Trails 2-1
|
Already down in the Divisional, the Aruba Wahoos put on their best show, beating the Bridgetown Flying Fish by a final score of 4-3 today. Ryosei Shiroi was special. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. Aruba now trails Bridgetown 2-1 in the best-of-5 affair.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Aruba trailing 3-0, Conchúr Sergeson jumped on a 1-0 splitter from Santiago García for a grand slam home run, sending the Wahoos to a walk-off win.
"It's not about individual awards," Sergeson told a Aruba Bulletin reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Fish Bowl in Oranjestad.
