Gates Blasts Wahoos, Pirates Take Game 2, 4-3
With designated hitter Ed Gates leading the charge, the Mogadishu Pirates got a road win over the Aruba Wahoos, 4-3, in Game 2 of the Championship today. Gates was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles at The Fish Bowl to help Mogadishu force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fifth when Gates hit a solo home run. It propelled the Pirates into the lead, 4-3.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Mogadishu manager Juan Flores told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Nasra Agil Stadium in Mogadishu.
