Almost There: Queretaro On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 5-2 Win
The Queretaro Desperados moved to within one game of the Gran Final de Mejico today, downing the San Luis Potosi Jardineros on the road at San Luis Potosí Grounds by a score of 5-2. Desperados right-hander Carlos Ramos had a strong outing. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Desperados a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Semifinals.

It could have been a different outcome for Queretaro, had it not been for Fernando Torres, the 32-year old shortstop . Torres contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Queretaro up, 3-2.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Torres said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at San Luis Potosí Grounds in San Luis Potosí.
