Clifton beat Fayetteville on the strength of starter Sebastiaan de Roode's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 9-3. de Roode went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. The loss drops Fayetteville to 2-1.

Rhys Shanks had a big 2-run home run for the Dons in the top of the second inning. With Clifton leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Paul Hay and swatted a home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dons ahead, 4-0.
