Leeds first baseman Jeff Bass helped his team beat the Akron Ambers, 7-4. Bass went 4 for 5 for the Locomotives. David Cruz got the win, improving to 4-1. He worked 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The Locomotives, now 18-10, have been playing some good baseball.

Leeds used a well-timed hit by Joseph Weatherhead to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Locomotives ahead, 5-4. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Bass said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
