The Beantown Browns got a stellar performance from pitcher Greg Smith, who handcuffed the Santo Domingo offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Estadio Quisqueya. Colm Stanbra earned the save for Beantown, his 8th of the year. Beantown bumps their record to 15-16 with the win.
Beantown used a well-timed hit by José Ramírez to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Browns ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
Browns manager Oliver Robinson praised Smith after the game. "I keep telling everyone," he said, "'Don't go to sleep on this kid.'"
