Tri-Staters Zap Ambers, 3-2
|
The Evansville Tri-Staters eked out a 3-2 win versus the Akron Ambers at Great Lakes Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Jim MacCowan. He was terrific. Barney Stone recorded the save, his 5th. Evansville is 17-13 and Akron, with the loss, 10-20.
Evansville used the timely hitting of Rob Cannell to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tri-Staters on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Enjoyed this one," MacCowan told the Evansville Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
