Ambers Fall Short, 8-7, at Newport News
A 4-RBI performance from pinch hitter Carlos Juárez led the Newport News Anchormen to a win over the Akron Ambers, 8-7. The winner was Kichibei Matsumoto in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Christian Romero took the loss. John Jenkins collected his 2nd save.

Juárez contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Newport News in the bottom of the sixth. With his team trailing 7-4, Juárez took a cutter from Christian Romero and stroked the home run to right. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Anchormen to leap in front, 8-7.

"We've got great fans," said Juárez. "I hope they got what they came for."

Yes, it was a win for Newport News; but their 11-24 record is still nothing to boast about.
