The Clifton Dons took Akron pitcher Ramón Muñóz's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Clifton Stadium. The final score had Clifton getting past the Ambers, 2-0. Muñóz went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 9. Greg Smith was called on to finish, recording his 4th save. Clifton, now 53-45, holds down third place in the Appalachian Mountain League East.

Greg Smith got a big out in the top of the ninth. The Ambers were trailing 2-0, but Akron had a runner on 2nd with one out. Smith threw a 1-2 curveball to Martínez, who struck out.
