Independence Collect 4-3 Win Over Anchormen
The Jefferson County Independence outlasted the Newport News Anchormen in an extra-inning thriller.

The Jefferson County Independence wiggled past the Newport News Anchormen, 4-3, at Anchormen Stadium. The win was highlighted by the performance of Jefferson County pitcher Ryozo Tomita. Jefferson County is now 53-57.

Jefferson County relied on the hitting of Carlton Andrews to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Independence on top, 4-3. For the game, Andrews had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Independence manager Román Garza.
