Orcas Pull Off Thrilling 6-5 Win in Extras
|
The Victoria Orcas trumped the Boise Remuda, 6-5, at Boise Ballpark. Victoria third baseman Ashwin Hoeks was terrific. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Victoria reliever Mark de Vries picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Elvis Childress absorbed the loss. Rhett Birkbeck earned the save for Victoria, his 1st of the year.
Hoeks had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 0-1 circle change from Elvis Childress, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Orcas a 6-5 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Hoeks.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Hoeks told the Victoria Daily.
Boise now has a record of 8-9.
