Late Magic Gets Florida 4-3 Win
|
The Scottish Claymores got a superb performance from pitcher Carl Ford, but the Florida Farstriders still won the game, 4-3. Ford threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Florida reliever Jorge Gallegos was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Keiji Honda took the loss. León Zamora closed the game out for Florida, earning his 6th save.
Florida needed the clutch hitting of Mauro Mata to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Farstriders on top, 4-3. For the game, Mata had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"It was a good effort all around," said Mata.
The win puts Florida at 16-9.
