Behind a solid performance from left fielder Miguel González, the Omaha Insurers defeated the Monterey Sea Lions, 7-6. González went 1-3 with 2 walks and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times for the Insurers. Reliever Xing-hua Zhu picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ánibal Cruz took the loss. The win gives Omaha a record of 2-1.

The knockout blow came in the bottom of the 11th inning. That's when pinch hitter Pedro Casillas stepped to the plate with a runner on 2nd and hit a run-scoring double, to win the ballgame.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Tetsu Konishi, the Omaha skipper.
