The 7-3 Monterey win over Maine was due in large part to Rick Thomas. The Sea Lions first baseman went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Eichiro Mizuno. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. The left--hander struck out 5 and walked 3. Ánibal Cruz was credited with the save for Monterey, his 1st of the season.

With Monterey leading 4-3 in the top of the ninth, Thomas hit a fastball from Yosai Yamauchi for a bases-clearing double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Sea Lions ahead, 7-3.

"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Thomas.

The Lobsters drop to 8-9 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2040 season.
