The Maine Lobsters got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Wood, but the Santurce Castillos still won the game, 4-2. Wood threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Santurce reliever Ryuichi Suzuki picked up the win to move to 1-0. Bob Simms suffered the loss. Shawn Bradley was credited with the save for Santurce, his 4th of the season.
Santurce relied on the hitting of Luis Cantú to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Castillos on top, 4-2. For the game, Cantú had 1 triple and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Santurce skipper Pepe Rico.
The victory makes Santurce 11-10.
