Matthews Lifts Seagulls to 5-2 Triumph
|
The Narragansett Seagulls grabbed a win, 5-2, over the Monterey Sea Lions at Monterey Grounds. Narragansett right fielder Spencer Matthews went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. With the win, Narragansett goes to 17-7.
Matthews came through with some timely hitting for Narragansett. With Monterey trailing 2-1 in the top of the sixth, Matthews hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season made it 3-2, Narragansett.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Matthews told the Narragansett Today. "You win just by scoring more runs."
