Ayala Homers Twice in 13-4 Diamonds Win
The Delaware Diamonds handed the Den Bosch Dykes a loss at Ballpark of Deleware. The final score was 13-4. Major production was provided by Júlio Ayala for Delaware. In addition to his 1 single and 2 home runs, he scored 4 runs and drove in 3. He also added 1 walk. Delaware starter Mike Hall was credited with the win after throwing 105 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 2-3. The Diamonds have hit the ground running, raising their record to 19-9. While it's still too soon to talk about Delaware hoisting their 1st Great Northern Cup trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.

The Diamonds got a big hit from first baseman Bert Wakeham. In the bottom of the eighth, Wakeham pounded a grand slam home run to right. His 7th home run of the season put the Diamonds ahead, 13-4.

"I still think this team can play even better," Wakeham told the Delaware Observer.
