Thunder Knock Off Reckoning, 3-1

The bats were silent much of the day at Thunder Ballpark. But Yoshida Chikafuji conjured up just enough offense to carry the Thunder past the Rockville Reckoning, 3-1. Chikafuji was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Nobuharu Takaki earned the win for Youngstown. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-1. With the victory, the Thunder upped their record to 30-24.
Chikafuji contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Youngstown in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Chikafuji took a slider from Joshua Waterhouse and stroked the home run to left. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Thunder to leap in front, 2-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Youngstown skipper Al Goudie.
