Wakeham Lifts Diamonds to 7-3 Triumph
|
No one was more impactful than Bert Wakeham in the 7-3 Delaware win over Hampton. Wakeham, who is tied for 4th in the ATAL in total bases with 121, was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Juan Colón was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout. The win puts Delaware at 36-34 this season.
With Delaware leading 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Wakeham hit a curveball from Miguel Hernández for a 3-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Diamonds ahead, 6-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Wakeham, "and today was a good one for us."
