Reckoning Suffer 4-1 Setback
|
The Monterey Sea Lions topped the Rockville Reckoning, 4-1, in Atlantic Alliance action at Monterey Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Monterey pitcher John Sharp. The win belongs to Miguel Ortíz in relief. His record improves to 1-11. Tim Thomas took the loss for Rockville. Luis Valéncia recorded his 4th save for Monterey.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Danny Martin came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Rockville pitcher Lorenzo Hernández, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Monterey on top, 3-1.
"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Martin.
With the win, the Sea Lions improved to 23-54.
