Codgers Nose Past Aurora, 3-2
|
Palm Springs beat Aurora at Northern Lights Park, escaping with a 3-2 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Juan Carlos Ornelza. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ricardo Pineda, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Bartolo Baca got credit for the save for Palm Springs. It was his 1st of the year.
Ornelza had a timely hit for Palm Springs in the top of the eighth. With Aurora trailing 2-0, he turned a 2-2 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season, making it 3-2, Palm Springs.
"We were in it," said Aurora manager Michel Provost. "We just didn't score enough runs."
With the loss, Aurora drops to 12-13.
