Hotham Delivers Walk-Off Win for Thunder
|
Youngstown and Bowling Green exchanged scoreless frames until -- at last -- someone crossed the plate.
The Youngstown Thunder did just enough to sneak past the Bowling Green Rebels, 1-0, at Thunder Ballpark. Youngstown pitcher Eichiro Mizuno, in particular, had a standout performance. The win belongs to Richard Rodríguez in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Jack Harris took the loss for Bowling Green.
The Thunder relied on first baseman Clive Hotham for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Youngstown manager Al Goudie. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The Thunder are now 41-61, while the Rebels fall to 46-56.
