Narragansett got a big-time effort from pitcher Shigenobu Taguchi, but it wasn't enough to keep the Monterey Sea Lions from winning the game, 3-1. Taguchi threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Miguel Ortíz, now 5-13, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. The Sea Lions sit in last place in the Atlantic Alliance South with a record of 38-76.

Monterey took a 3-1 lead on Hui Ming's 8th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Narragansett pitcher Shigenobu Taguchi in the bottom of the seventh.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Ming told the Monterey Herald.
