Seagulls Come Up Short at Port-au-Prince, 5-4
|
Behind the hitting of Thiongo Kawawe, the Port-au-Prince Bokors clipped the Narragansett Seagulls, 5-4. Kawawe went 2-2 with a double and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times for the Bokors. Port-au-Prince reliever Shigeaki Maeda was credited with the win, to go to 2-3. Melvin McNeal took the loss for Narragansett. With the win, the Bokors improved to 58-75.
Had Francisco Hernández not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Hernández hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Bokors.
"A great game, a great day," said Kawawe about the win. "I can't complain."
