Monterey rode a good effort from starter John Sharp to beat the Inverness Highlanders at The Fortress at Inverness. The final score was 3-2. Roberto Flores, credited with the win, is now 6-5. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits. Luis Valéncia nailed down his 18th save.

Monterey used the timely hitting of Oswald Jost to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sea Lions on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Sharp said.

The last-place Sea Lions now have a win-loss record of 46-86.
