López Struts Stuff in Win Over Monterey
|
All went well for Ángel López of the Delaware Diamonds as he pitched his team to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Monterey Sea Lions, limiting them to 1 hit. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about López on the day.
"Ángel's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Diamonds manager Francisco Escobar. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Delaware right-hander rang up 3 and surrendered 3 walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Sea Lions manager Dean Jefferson. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
In the current season in 14 starts, Ángel López has a record of 3-7 with 58 strikeouts in 91 innings and a 2.57 ERA.
