Camels Suffer 3-1 Setback
|
The Brampton Camels got a superb performance from pitcher Miguel Colomo, but the Red Deer Kings still won the game, 3-1. Colomo threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Lu-shan Joo snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 1-0 on the season. John Barnes was credited with the save for Red Deer, his 2nd of the season.
The outcome might have been different for Red Deer, had it not been for Kendrick Latham, the 24-year old right fielder . Latham stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Red Deer up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Red Deer manager Felipe Rodríguez. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Kings raised their record to 5-14.
