Medicine Hat starter Ieyoshi Kiyomizu put a stranglehold on the Laval offense. The right-hander had complete command of his cutter in leading the Drillers to a 7-1 win. The Drillers, at 18-13, sit in second place in the Pacific Alliance Wild Rose.

Dale Bransington, the Medicine Hat center fielder, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 1-0, Drillers. For the game, Bransington was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.

"I got in a good groove," said Kiyomizu. "I was getting some swings and misses."
