Industrialists Drop Kings, 5-4
|
The Hamilton Industrialists overcame a good performance by Red Deer third baseman Charley Moore to knock off Red Deer, 5-4, at Kings Ballpark. Moore was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Hamilton reliever Javier Mejía was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was José Garza. Kenny Goodman recorded the save for Hamilton, his 2nd of the season.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Michael Brown came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Red Deer pitcher José Garza, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hamilton on top, 5-4.
"There's no quit in this team," said Industrialists manager Robert Davis.
With the win, Hamilton pushed its record to 17-13.
