Hamilton Downs Kumamoto, 5-2
|
The Hamilton Industrialists beat the Kumamoto Mothra, 5-2, at Ibaraki Grounds. The win was due in part to left fielder Dae-su Hwa, who was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Hamilton reliever Yuan Won picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Jim Pineau shouldered the loss. Bill Rice got credit for the save for Hamilton. It was his 1st of the year.
In the top of the fifth, Song-shil Ham delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Hamilton third baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Industrialists in front, 5-2.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Hamilton manager Robert Davis.
The second-place Industrialists now have a win-loss record of 26-14.
