The Red Deer Kings got a superb performance from pitcher Mauro Castillo. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Laval. The Islanders won the game, 7-1. Castillo threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. John Osequedo snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 1-2 on the season. Laval, at 10-34, sits in last place in the Pacific Alliance Maple Leaf.

Bill Randall aided the Laval cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Randall said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
