|
Good production from left fielder Miguel Méndez helped the Rapid City Rushmores topple the Portsmouth Dockhands, 10-1. Méndez went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for the Rushmores. Curtis Casas, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and 1 run, while striking out 7 and walking 3. Adam Opie finished the game for Rapid City and earned his 2nd save.
Rapid City used a well-timed hit by Jack Knight to capture the win. The right fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rushmores ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Méndez told the Rapid City Chronicle: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
The win lifts Rapid City to a record of 11-9.
