Shipbuilders Suffer 6-4 Setback
|
The Cheyenne Frontier defeated the Govan Shipbuilders, 6-4, at Riverside Park. Toru Kobayashi was a standout performer for Cheyenne. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double, in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Cheyenne reliever José Cabrera picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Ju-zheng Chio absorbed the loss. Cheyenne, at 17-15, occupies third place in the Amber Waves League Big Sky.
Cheyenne used the timely hitting of Sergio Grinán to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Frontier on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Kobayashi said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
