Vulcans Pick Up 2-1 Road Win Over Govan
|
Riverside Park was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Nassau Vulcans and the Govan Shipbuilders. Nassau won it, 2-1. Nassau starter Domingo Vera was in command. In 7 innings, Vera surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Eitoku Asano earned the save for Nassau, his 8th of the year.
Tom Little, the 23-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Little contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Nassau up, 2-0.
"We were in it," said Govan manager Chris Long. "We just didn't score enough runs."
Today's win puts Nassau at 20-19, while Govan falls to 21-18.
