Vulcans Score Late, Topple Crooners, 4-3
|
The Nassau Vulcans beat the Hoboken Crooners, 4-3, in part because of third baseman William Pope. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Nassau, at 24-26, sits in 4th place in the Amber Waves League Intercontinental.
Pope had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Brody Buggins, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Vulcans a 4-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Pope.
After the game, Nassau manager Toby Brown applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
