Allen Goes Wild, But Tornadoes Win
|
Despite a great performance by Bismarck designated hitter Cory Allen, the Drumright Tornadoes defeated the Battleships by the score of 8-6 at Battleships Ballpark. Allen slugged 3 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring three times. Earning his 3rd save for Drumright was Joe Walker. Drumright occupies last place in the Amber Waves League Big Sky at 14-36.
Drumright used a clutch hit from Vernon Kelley to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tornadoes ahead, 8-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Carlos Moreno.
