Kelley Slaps 5 Hits
There was no storybook ending. Vernon Kelley of the Drumright Tornadoes socked it to the visiting Portsmouth Dockhands with a terrific 5-hit game today, but his team didn't get the win. The Tornadoes fell, 9-6, at Ballpark of Drumright.

"I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Kelley complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too."

He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Drumright manager Carlos Moreno sympathized with his third baseman, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Vernon played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough."

Vernon Kelley singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Wayne Flowers in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.

This season Kelley has hit at a .256 clip and produced 10 runs batted in, 3 home runs and 16 runs.
