Martínez Impressive in Utrecht Win
|
Utrecht Scholars starter Andrés Martínez was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Nassau Vulcans, 9-1. The first-place Scholars raised their record to 38-17.
Martínez, who dominated for Utrecht, earned the victory to move to 6-2. He was in control the whole game, scattering 2 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 11. Nassau batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
Scholars manager Kyoichi Yoshimura had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
