In a tight game between the Utrecht Scholars and the Birmingham Bears, pitcher Paco López was terrific on the mound. The Utrecht right-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. Javier Muñóz closed it out for his 8th save. With the win over Birmingham, the Scholars improved to 53-23.

In the top of the fifth, Utrecht right fielder Augusto Aguilar had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, Aguilar stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 1-0, Utrecht. For the game, he was 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
