Leones Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Leones grabbed a win, 3-2, at Mercer County Waterfront Park, overcoming a fine effort from New Jersey pitcher Chris Pate. Pate went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. Havana reliever Ricardo Pérez got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Toshiki Miyata was tagged with the loss. Havana is now 16-21, while New Jersey is 23-16.
In the top of the 11th inning, Nori Ozaki muscled up and hit a solo home run. It put Havana ahead, 3-2. For the game, Ozaki was 1 for 4 with a home run.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said New Jersey manager Ieyoshi Ishikawa.
