Calzones of Laredo Best Alleghenies in Pitching Duel

Watt Powell Field hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
West Virginia pitcher Min-zhong Lou gave the Calzones of Laredo all they could handle, but in the end, San Antonio left Watt Powell Field with a win, 2-1. Lou allowed 2 runs on 2 hits over 8.1 innings. Lu Au earned the win to go to 1-5. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Bartolo Torres nailed down his 1st save.
Gareth Bugler drove in one run for San Antonio. The 33-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Min-zhong Lou. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
"I know we have our doubters," said West Virginia manager Salvador González. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The Calzones of Laredo raised their record to 16-24.
