Tornadoes Come Back Late to Top Crooners, 7-5
|
The Drumright Tornadoes defeated the Hoboken Crooners, 7-5. Doing his part was left fielder Vernon Kelley, who went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Sergio Sáenz in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Jerome Montero took the loss. Chris Harris recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 3 for 3.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Kelley delivered big-time for Drumright, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Jerome Montero. The game-changing hit put the Tornadoes on top, 7-5.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Kelley.
Despite the win, the Tornadoes still have a lousy 29-91 record.
