Shipbuilders Hand Pioneers 4-2 Loss
|
The Govan Shipbuilders topped the Fort Wayne Pioneers, 4-2, in Amber Waves League action at Fort Wayne Park. The standout performance belonged to Govan pitcher and El Limón, Venezuela, native Pepe Sánchez. Sánchez got the win, improving to 7-4. He allowed 7 hits and walked 4 over 8 innings. Sánchez allowed 2 runs. Ichiro Taguchi earned save number 4 this season.
With two out in the top of the fourth, Falley L'ami hit a go-ahead bases-clearing double. It was his 2nd double of the season and with it the Shipbuilders took a 4-2 lead.
Sánchez attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The second-place Shipbuilders raised their record to 74-50.
